Is anything real anymore, or is it all smoke and mirrors?
The UCLA Library provides virtual applications and desktops to library staff, and virtual applications to campus through the Campus Library Instructional Computing Commons’ (CLICC) Software Shortcut.
Leveraging a virtual infrastructure allows them to create a work from an “anywhere with almost any device” environment. Faculty can teach classes with software from anywhere with students using their own laptops.
This webinar will cover the background of the two environments, realistic expectations, the soft and human costs, and why you should consider trying it. Of course, it will be a continuous live demonstration.

Presenters
The three presenters are part of the UCLA Library’s Digital Initiatives and Information Technology department.
Jessica Mentesoglu is the head of Learning and Research Technology Support Services (LRTSS), which CLICC is part of. She is constantly working with faculty to improve services and utilize new technology.
Alan Lebetkin is a programmer analyst within LRTSS. He creates the images for the CLICC classroom, lab, and 500 fleet dual boot mac laptops, and then deploys it.
David Lakatta is a Programmer Analyst on the CoreOps team. One of the many hats he wears is building and maintaining the virtual application and desktop environment.
