UC Tech News is excited to launch the UC Tech Leaders Q&A Series in 2026—a series designed to spotlight the voices shaping technology across UC.
What is Your Name?
Kyle Nash
What is Your Title? UC Location?
Project Policy Analyst II – UCSF
What Are Your Top IT/Security Priorities in 2026?
Digital accessibility
What Emerging Tech Excites You for Higher Ed?
New integrations, and I feel like there has been a massive push for understanding and learning how systems work…rather than just expecting people to figure it out on their own.
What Emerging Tech Worries You?
UX/UI/Graphic Illustrating AI/Tech – I think it’s a quick means to an end, but it lacks clarity of even emotional depth and individuality.
How Do You Balance Innovation with Security?
I think it’s trickier now than ever, but I think trying to provide programs or systems behind access walls, or limited inputted info, can help. But I think the biggest issue I have seen is people worrying about who specifically is viewing/using their info.
What Principles/Values Shape Your Leadership?
Thinking people first and being able to perspective shift.
What Books are You Currently Reading?
1984 and Sirens of Titan
What’s Your Favorite Thing to Do Outside of Work?
Run, make music, and cook new meals.
Thank you for the conversation, Kyle!
