About Rachael Nava
Rachael Nava is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the University of California. She is known as a visionary leader and strategic thinker. With a unique blend of operational expertise and a collaborative leadership approach, Nava plays a critical role in managing UC’s nearly $50 billion enterprise. Nava is known for fostering an inclusive and engaging work environment. She leads the UC Operations division at the Office of the President, overseeing essential systemwide functions such as HR, IT, UCPath and community safety, as well as the services that support the employees of UC Office of the President, including UCOP’s office of equity diversity and inclusion. Before coming to UC in 2015, she was chief operating officer (COO) of a non-profit Medicaid health plan in California serving vulnerable populations. Her early work in cancer and AIDS research within the biotech industry laid a strong foundation for her innovative, data-driven approach to leadership. Executive Vice President Nava is a third-generation UC alumna with a degree in Biology from UC Santa Cruz. Learn more.
