This year, for the annual “Top 5 Blog” retrospective, we decided to take the twenty stories that got the most views and find general themes—which actually reflect what you like to read about. It’s worth mentioning that there were three articles that got significantly more views than any others! They were, in order:

- UC IT Town Hall with President Drake, September 14
These three articles fit easily into one of five general themes.
- We want to work better, smarter. Articles that describe different ways to do our jobs have always been a blog favorite.
- We’re All Designers – Let’s Get Better at IT Together! UCSC’s first chief experience officer describes the importance of understanding users.
- Privacy Tips for Your Syllabus. A first-ever guide for privacy in the digital classroom, much of which applies to our digital office work life.
- Let’s Look Under the Hood: UC’s Information Security Policy, IS-3. UC’s information security policy demystified.
- UC Adopts a New IT Recovery Policy. Preparing to recover systems and data in a disaster.
- Working Remotely? Up Your Digital Records Management Game. Eight tips—from protecting privacy to recognizing records with historical value.
- State of the UC Tech Slack Community. Just published in December and enough views to put it in the Top 20!
- We learn by hearing how others do their jobs. UC IT folks really value peer expertise. That’s a cornerstone of our annual UC Tech Conference too.
- Safety in the Skies: UC’s Drone Management System. Eight of ten UC campuses are using this award-winning system—how did they do it?

- UC Tech Exec: A Thanksgiving Message from VP IT Van Williams. The first in a new blog series of articles or videos for the UC IT community by UC executives.

- UC Women Rock IT: Achievements during the Pandemic. Our top story of 2021. Meet IT women who stepped up during COVID.

- We just like the shout outs! Everyone likes to be recognized.
