During a recent AI workshop for senior leaders, “Creating a Smarter University: AI Transformations in Administration” workshop,” hosted at UCLA by the UC AI Council and UC Chief Information Officer Council from September 30 – October 1, 2024, participants shared multi-faceted views on how to capitalize on new tools that are changing the way we work. Click on the images, below, to see a summary of the discussions that took place over the course of this two-day workshop. The gathering, which included 250 senior UC leaders in administrative roles, consisted of: (1) formal presentations and discussions, (2) interactive breakout sessions and (3) a trade-show style fair.
As a result of the two-day program, senior leaders now have a shared understanding of the critical importance of looking at all opportunities with a rigorous strategic mindset that incorporates both sound business principals and technical considerations.
They learned to apply the UC AI Principals, five guiding questions that each leader should ask before implementing AI, and which include: Appropriateness, Privacy and security, Transparency, Fairness & non-discrimination and Accountability.
