By Bala Balakumar. University of California Systemwide Procurement introduces a new UC-wide agreement with Dell as the new UC systemwide software value added reseller (aka VAR). This new agreement is in addition to the existing Dell hardware agreement. This new Dell agreement replaces SHI International Corporation as the UC systemwide software VAR for Microsoft and Adobe, as well as MicroFocus and Netskope, effective 2/1/23.
In partnership with the IT Sourcing Committee (ITSC) and the Software Services Group (SSG), UC Systemwide Procurement conducted a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a software value added reseller. The primary driver for the RFP was the existing SHI agreement reaching the ten-year policy term limit. The RFP resulted in Dell being identified as the best value supplier to serve the UC system’s software VAR needs going forward.
This agreement is now available to all UC locations. The Agreement documents are available in CalUsource as Contract #2022003449.
Benefits to the university
UC locations working together achieved these benefits:
• $5.8m in projected financial benefit UC-wide over the initial term
• 5-year initial term, with five annual renewals at the university’s discretion
• Fixed pricing during initial term
• Agreement terms aligned with the university’s needs and compliant with policy and laws
