Mobility & Modern Web Conference Returns to UCLA, Sept. 14 – 16

Registration for the UCLA Office of Information Technology’s  sixth annual Mobility & Modern Web Conference (MMWCon) is now open. MMWCON, a unique mobile technology event centered around active learning, strategy sharing, and collaborative experiences will take place at UCLA’s California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) September 14 – 16, 2016. The conference features two days of exciting sessions followed by a day of hands-on workshops covering the latest trends in mobility and the modern web.

UCLA and all University of California campus faculty and staff can take advantage of the early bird, non-profit rate, which runs through July 31. The rate gives participants access to the entire three-day conference. After July 31, the non-profit price will increase from $295 to $475. The student rate is $265. MMWCON is a mobile-focused experience where technologists, mobile strategists, faculty and students alike can choose between looking at what’s next in tech during sessions, dive deep into advanced coding techniques demo sprints, and hands-on workshops. This is a conference where every mobile user’s abilities and perspectives truly matter. The first two days of the conference will feature sessions in three concurrent tracks: Mobility Toolkit; mHealth and Sensors; and Next Generation Mobile and Data.

At the conclusion of the second day, UCLA’s Code for the Mission (CFTM) competition will unveil the winning teams of its app design contest at an awards ceremony. CFTM features the best of the next generation of student technologists who will present the winning apps in three tracks: Education: Inspiring Women in STEM; Research: mHealth; and Service: Promoting Community Engagement & Civil Discourse. Also, Team Block will unveil UCLA Chancellor Gene Block’s mobile app project, which is being developed through a collaborative effort between the chancellor and three of UCLA’s brightest student tech minds.

The final day of MMWCon will feature hands-on workshops as well as the inaugural MMWCon hackathon. As part of the engagement emphasis, attendees will have many opportunities to contribute to the conference experience through twitter and social media outlets along with interactive polling tools.
