It’s right around the corner! May 15 is the application deadline for the 2020 Sautter Awards for Innovation in Information Technology.
How can you submit an application?
To develop a compelling application, read the program description and listen to a recording about how to write a Sautter application. To apply, compose your story with all the requested information in a Word document or accessible PDF and submit it via the Sautter Award Submission Form. If you have questions or want advice, contact Yvonne Tevis, (510) 987-0638.
What are the awards for?
This annual award program is sponsored by the UC IT Leadership Council (ITLC). The awards recognize technology projects that demonstrate ITLC priorities, including innovation, collaboration, and operational efficiency, and that advance UC’s teaching, research, health care, and public service missions.
Who can apply?
The program is open to faculty and staff from all UC campuses and medical centers, the Office of the President, Hastings College of the Law, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Teams or individuals who have implemented an innovative IT project at UC in the last three years are encouraged to submit an application for an award.
What projects are eligible?
The full gamut of IT projects may be submitted for awards. Award-winning projects in 2019 included a community engagement tool that allows residents and community organizations to collect information about transportation collisions, near-misses, general hazards and safe locations to travel; a mobile system for collecting research data on the pediatric asthma patient population; and a cloud-based platform to help refugees document and share their personal stories and educational credentials to reclaim their right to education. Review the prior awards and applications to get a sense of the range of projects submitted.
When are awards announced?
The Sautter Award Program presents up to three Golden Awards, two Silver Awards and five honorable mentions. Award recipients will be announced at the UC Tech Conference, August 17 – 19, 2020, at UCLA.
