The Information Technology Policy and Security Community of Interest (ITPS) is a systemwide, CISO-supported group of more than 700 UC professionals dedicated to strengthening cybersecurity through collaboration and information sharing. Working across the UC system, ITPS brings members together to problem-solve in real time through monthly meetings and an active listserv that shares threat and vulnerability information, peer case studies, data trend initiatives, threat briefings and emerging issues.
Rooted in the belief that continuous learning and open communication are essential to healthy cybersecurity programs, the community of interest has continued to evolve over time. Programming now includes presentations on topics adjacent to cybersecurity, such as risk, privacy, AI and more.
The ITPS community began as a chartered subcommittee under the UC IT Leadership Council and was later reformed in 2015, when it was preserved and relaunched as a UC-wide community of interest. Since then, ITPS has grown from about 80 members in 2015 to a vibrant community of over 700 participants. Read more about ITPS’s history.
The group meets 10 months of the year (excluding December and January) on the second Wednesday of the month from 9:00–10:00 a.m. PT, with an average of 150-200 members per meeting. Each meeting typically includes systemwide updates relevant to the community, followed by a featured presentation that makes up the majority of the time.
