This Earth Hour event provides a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues and peers across the UC system who share an interest in ensuring that as technology continues to advance in our lives and society, it does so in a way that is responsible, sustainable, and beneficial to all.

Topics

Possible topics to be discussed include:

  • How can we incorporate sustainability criteria into the decision-making process for new tech projects?
  • What are some best practices for reducing energy consumption in our IT infrastructure?
  • What are some approaches to making AI and big data systems more energy-efficient?
  • How can we foster a culture of innovation that prioritizes sustainability alongside other business objectives?

Background

The UC Tech community listed the environment/sustainability as one of their core interests in a survey conducted last spring. We welcome all members of the community to discuss their involvement and/or interest in sustainability during this casual, online meet-up.
