By Lindsey Terra. In the spirit of partnership and digital transformation, a recent collaboration between Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) and Design, Facilities, and Safety Services (DFSS) integrated two software applications — EnergyCAP and PeopleSoft — that reduced user workload by 70 percent.
Because of this effort, DFSS presented ETS with the ACE (Acknowledging Commitment and Excellence) Partnership Award for the integration of PeopleSoft with EnergyCAP, a third-party software that helps staff manage campus facilities.
According to ETS Business Systems Manager Antonio Bummer, two IT employees played critical roles in the integration: Avi Turgeman, enterprise software engineer, who was the developer on the integration between EnergyCAP data to PeopleSoft; and Greg West, software support lead, who transferred the EnergyCAP files for import and export.
Before the integration, Business & Financial Services (BFS) employees manually entered utility invoices into PeopleSoft. The systems’ integration allows approved invoices to be sent to PeopleSoft accounts for payment processing. Employees can now also enter payment information EnergyCAP to reflect invoice status.
The DFSS ACE Partnership Award honors campus collaborations that are empowering and transformative, and embody the values of strong partnerships while contributing to learning and community building.
In recognition of his team’s accomplishment, ETS Software, Engineering, Architecture, & Lifestyle (SEAL) Director Yaheya Quazi said, “Success is sweet. But it’s sweeter when it is achieved through coordination, cooperation, and collaboration. Thank you to all of you for delivering such great teamwork. These efforts continue to prove the power Software/System integration brings to various UCSB businesses. To quote Tesla CEO Elon Musk, ‘Talent is extremely important. It’s like a sports team, the team that has the best individual player will often win, but then there’s a multiplier from how those players work together and the strategy they employ.’”
