It’s coming up fast: The May 18 deadline for applications for UC’s 2018 Sautter Awards for innovation in information technology. To apply, read the program description, listen to the webinar recording about how to write a winning application, and submit a document (there’s no form!) by email to Yvonne Tevis to tell the selection committee why you should win.
The award program is sponsored by the UC IT Leadership Council (ITLC). The annual awards recognize technology projects that demonstrate ITLC priorities, including innovation, collaboration, and operational efficiency, and that advance UC’s teaching, research, health care, and public service missions.
The program is open to faculty and staff from all UC campuses and medical centers, the Office of the President, Hastings College of the Law, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Teams or individuals who have implemented an innovative IT project at UC in the last three years are encouraged to submit an application for an award.
In 2017, award-winning projects included an application to enable the exchange of patient health data between paramedics and the hospital emergency department, a classroom recording system with a camera that tracks the instructor and captures the whiteboard, and an interactive website providing information about California’s vulnerable youth.
The Sautter Award Program presents up to three Golden Awards, two Silver Awards and five honorable mentions. Award recipients will be announced at the UC Computing Services Conference, Aug. 13 – 15, 2018 at UC Davis.
